Introduction

From Fatima RA said, that the Prophet SAW whispered to me:
أَنَّ جِبْرِيلَ كَانَ يُعَارِضُنِي بِالقُرْآنِ كُلَّ سَنَةٍ، وَإِنَّهُ عَارَضَنِي العَامَ مَرَّتَيْنِ، وَلاَ أُرَاهُ إِلَّا حَضَرَ أَجَلِي
Meaning: "Jibril read the Quran to me once every year and indeed Jibril read the Quran to me twice this year. I don't see it except as a sign that my death has come".
From this hadith, it is clear that the Qur'an needs to be learned through discussion or teaching. This is also the sunnah of the salaf which is practiced by the companions when they take or learn directly from the Prophet SAW. After that, the Prophet SAW sent his companions to several places to teach the Qur'an to others. This is also practiced by generations after the companions such as tabi'in, tabi' tabi'in and after them.
